Mom, thank you for teaching me all that I know today
Even though sometimes I might want to play
You would have me stay
You have taught me to be independent
And always encouraged me
Even to go for vice president
Thank you for teaching me how to cook
And clean the whole kitchen to sparkle
Even though I didn’t use the cookbook
And thank you for spending lots of your time with me
And cleaning my clothes
And also teaching me how to do laundry
Thank you for always playing “toys”
Because I was too young to have friends
And thank you for acting like one of my “boys”
Thank you for teaching me how to laugh
And how to be funny
And always helping me with my math
Throughout all our times together I will always love you, Mom
Even when we yell
I will always love you, Mom
When we fight and shout
I will always love you, Mom
